Structural Composition

High-voltage cable branch boxes serve as cable branches, junctions, and protection components in high-voltage power distribution systems. While primarily a connection element, protective devices can be added to the structural components if necessary.

1. Enclosure: The enclosure is the basic component. We use high-strength metal, such as cold-rolled steel or stainless steel, providing waterproof, dustproof, corrosion-resistant, and weather-resistant properties, suitable for indoor or outdoor high-voltage environments.

2. Main Cable Connection Terminal: This part is used for large-section high-voltage cables, supporting aluminum or copper conductors, ensuring reliable contact and low impedance.

3. Branch Terminals: A one-in-multiple-out structure, internally isolated with high-insulation, heat-resistant materials to ensure electrical isolation and safe distances between branches.

4. Insulation and Protection System: Equipped with high-voltage bushings and insulating covers to prevent short circuits, flashovers, or electric shock accidents.

5. Protection Devices: Optional based on project requirements, including high-voltage fuses, load switches, lightning strike and overcurrent protection. Independent protection for branch circuits is possible, while the main line maintains continuous power supply.

1. High Voltage Safety and Insulation

The High Voltage Cable Branch Box adopts a high-strength metal enclosure with an insulating cover, supporting 1kV~35kV and above high-voltage cable branching. High-voltage branches are fully isolated from the main trunk, preventing flashover, short circuits, or electric shock, meeting IEC/GB high-voltage power distribution safety standards.


2. Multi-Circuit Branching Function

This product supports one-in-multiple-outlet cable branching, allowing for flexible configuration of the number of circuits as needed. The internal busbar or conductor structure evenly distributes current, and different branch current capacities can be customized according to load requirements, simplifying high-voltage cable wiring and reducing construction complexity.


3. High Protection Rating

Shangming can customize outdoor branch boxes with IP54/IP65 protection ratings based on actual environmental conditions, resisting rain, dust, ultraviolet radiation, and corrosive environments, and adaptable to long-term operation in high-temperature, low-temperature, and humid environments.


4. Modular Structure

FAQ

Q: If the voltage indicator on the enclosure surface is off, can I tell if the circuit is out of power?

A: Absolutely not. The voltage indicator is only for supplementary reference. A non-illuminating indicator could be due to a damaged indicator, a faulty sensor, or a blown fuse. Before any operation, a high-voltage tester of the appropriate voltage rating must be used for on-site testing.


Q: What should I do if I hear a slight hissing sound from the enclosure during inspection?

A: Immediately request a power outage for inspection. Hissing is usually a sign of partial discharge, indicating that the internal insulation may have cracked or a discharge path may have been created due to improper installation. If not addressed promptly, this can quickly escalate into a phase-to-phase short circuit, or even cause the enclosure to explode.


Q: How do I choose between SF6 insulation and solid insulation?

A: SF6 insulation: Extremely mature technology with strong arc-extinguishing capabilities, but involves greenhouse gas emissions and requires regular pressure gauge monitoring.

Solid insulation: Gas-free protection, more environmentally friendly, suitable for areas with extremely high environmental requirements or high-altitude regions, preventing internal air bubbles.
